Loose fasteners, open seams and flashing leaks on metal roofs, fixed without replacing the whole roof.
36 years in the roofing trade

Metal roofs are tough, but they are not maintenance-free. The panels themselves rarely fail; the parts that hold them to the building do. Fasteners work loose, rubber washers dry out in the sun, seams open at the laps and flashing at chimneys, walls and roof curbs separates as the metal expands and contracts through the seasons.
Because metal roofs are common on farm buildings, shops and commercial buildings around Pierce City, a lot of those roofs have been up for years and are due for attention. A leaking barn roof may only need a few dozen fasteners replaced and one seam resealed, not a new roof.
Finding the actual leak is the work. Water on a metal roof can travel along the underside of a panel and drip somewhere far from the entry point, so we trace it back to the real opening and fix that, instead of smearing sealant across the roof.
We inspect the roof surface, fasteners, laps and flashing, and the underside of the panels if we can reach them, to find where the water enters.
You hear what failed, why and whether the rest of the roof shows the same wear.
Loose or failed fasteners are replaced with the correct type and washer, and damaged panels or trim are swapped out.
Open seams, laps and flashing joints are cleaned and sealed with products made for metal roofs.
We look over the rest of the roof for similar weak spots, so you know what to expect.
A metal roof repair can be quick or involved, and the price depends on:
Fixing a metal roof is different from fixing shingles, and a roofer who works with both knows the difference. Otto’s 36 years in roofing include metal, and he would rather save you a roof than sell you one.
If the roof is beyond repair, we will say so and explain what we see. If it is not, you get a targeted fix at a fraction of the cost of replacement.
We repair metal roofs in Pierce City and the surrounding region. See our Pierce City roofing page and Joplin roofing page.
Because leaks rarely come from the panel itself. They come from the pieces that hold the roof together: fasteners that have backed out, worn washers, open or unsealed seams and laps, and flashing at walls, vents and curbs.
Sealant can slow a small leak for a while, but it is a temporary fix on its own. Metal expands and contracts with the heat, which cracks sealant over time. A lasting repair replaces the failed fastener or flashing and seals it correctly.
Metal moves with temperature changes, and over years that movement can loosen exposed fasteners, especially if the wood under them has dried or the screw was not set right. Replacing them with the correct fastener and washer fixes the problem.
Surface rust on a small area can often be treated, and a dented or damaged panel can be replaced. Widespread rust or corrosion across the roof is a sign that replacement may be the better choice, and we will tell you which one you have.
