36 years in the roofing trade

Siding is the other half of a home's weather shell. The roof sheds rain from above, and the siding keeps rain from getting into the walls. When siding cracks, warps or pulls away, water gets behind it and the damage happens where nobody can see it, in the sheathing and framing.
In towns like Pierce City and Monett, plenty of houses are old enough that the original siding is long past its best, and many have been patched in several different materials. A farmhouse with three kinds of siding on one wall is a common sight. Replacing it is the way to make the whole house match and shed water again.
This category currently covers siding replacement. Because roofs and siding meet at the eaves, gables and dormers, it is often smart to plan the two together, and being a roofing company means we look at those joints from both sides.

Learn moreThe most failure-prone spots on any house are the places where roof meets wall. A crew that works on both knows how to flash those joints, and Elite's crews are on ladders and scaffolds every day.
We inspect what is behind the old siding before closing it back up, because rotted sheathing under new siding is a problem you only get to fix once.
Roof and siding meet at the same places, and those are the places water likes to get in. When one crew handles both, the flashing between them is done as one system, and there is no argument about whose job a leak is.
Panels that are cracked, warped, rotted or pulling away from the wall, soft spots in the sheathing behind them, or water stains inside the house all point toward replacement. Faded color on solid panels does not.
Often it makes sense. Replacing both at once lets the crew flash the roof-to-wall joints properly, and you only set up scaffolding and disruption once. If the roof is newer and the siding is old, you can do them separately.
